Cancelamento da edição 2011
Como é conhecido, entre 2000 e 2010 o Seminário Doc’s Kingdom
realizou-se em Serpa, proporcionando um encontro regular com alguns dos
autores mais importantes do cinema documental contemporâneo. No último
ano, devido a dificuldades de financiamento, foi já necessário
organizar uma edição mais curta. Este ano, temos infelizmente a
anunciar que, não estando asseguradas as condições mínimas que garantam
a identidade do encontro, o Doc’s Kingdom não será realizado. Em vez
disso, e em face da situação criada, optámos por reunir esforços para
uma reformulação do seminário em 2012 num lugar e em moldes que
preservem o seu carácter. A equipa que tem levado a cabo a iniciativa
está assim empenhada em anunciar o mais rapidamente possível essa
próxima edição, mantendo e desenvolvendo o que para nós é essencial:
uma experiência colectiva, informal e cumulativa, assente em três
vertentes inseparáveis, que são os visionamentos, os debates em torno
dos filmes na presença dos cineastas, e o encontro e partilha de ideias
na sua expressão mais lata.

Cancellation of the 2011 edition
As most of you know, between 2000 and 2011, the Doc’s Kingdom Seminar
has taken place in Serpa, providing a regular meeting with some of the
most important names of contemporary documentary cinema. Last year, due
to financial difficulties, it has already been necessary to organize a
shorter edition. This year, unfortunately, we have to announce that,
lacking the minimum conditions that would guarantee the identity of the
event, Doc’s Kingdom will not take place. Instead, taking account of
the present situation, we have decided to direct our efforts to the
reformulation of the seminar in 2012, in a place and according to terms
that may preserve its character. The team behind the organization of
the initiative is therefore committed to announce as soon as possible
the upcoming edition, maintaining and developing its essential traits:
a collective experience, informal and cumulative, based on three
inseparable components, i.e., the screenings, the debates on the films
and with the filmmakers, and the gathering and sharing of ideas in its
broadest sense.
